Altar Workers Ministry
Altar Workers Ministry
Vision Statement:
Building up of the saints through prayer. Continue to meet with altar workers to edify and empower the Altar Workers Ministry.
Mission Statement:
To demonstrate a passion for souls by ministering to and ensuring that those who respond to the altar call receive salvation, restoration or special prayer; support their decision, and maintain order during special altar calls and services.
Scriptural Foundation:
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:14-16
Purpose:
Our purpose is to guide and intercede for those who have a specific need in the body of Christ. We assist in praying for others during altar call and interceding for the church as a whole. During the Invitation to Christian Discipleship, we pray for those who come forth to give their life to Christ. During church service, we are in observant mode and prayer at all times. As altar workers we are in constant prayer and in-tune with the Holy Spirit and Pastor at all times.
Goals:
Provide a comfortable, secure atmosphere by conveying a pleasant demeanor and a professional appearance.
Seek to discover the person’s need, doing so with gentleness, tact, and respect. Never push for details.
Be specific in prayer with the needy individual, while displaying a sincere desire to intercede.
